Playboy Case - June 7, 1994 - NBC News Clip.
----------
.
This is a short KNBC-TV Channel 4 (Los Angeles) news clip about the 'infamous' Playboy case at L.A. County Fire Dept. This news clip opens in the KFI radio studio for the "John & Ken Show" in Burbank, CA. I'm locked in a somewhat 'heated' debate with Shelly Mandell, the attorney for the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW). It was a good debate, but Ms. Mandell did not know the case nearly as well as I did. I had "lived it" everyday in the fire stations, until it was finally adjudicated in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, Central District, in Los Angeles. Judge Stephen V. Wilson ruled in favor of the Plaintiff (Capt. Steve Johnson), saying the Defendant (Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman and staff), simply had not proven their case. The bench trial lasted two days, starting on Tuesday, June 7, 1994 and closing on Thursday, June 9, 1994. The decision was handed down at the end of the second day of the trial.
